I don't know the answer to this but my thought process is this: If you have rear seats then you're inclined to carry a passenger in the rear of the vehicle, if they're not declared then the person wouldn't be covered in the event of an accident which I assume would render your insurance invalid, they will be tested on an MOT, along with the seat belts.

Adding seats to van, log book?
Hi ppl just looking for advice as I know a few of you astravan owners have fitted rear seats in your vans, just wondered about adding seats to log book? Any test or inspection?

About right that is surly if there there then they need to be declared
